Among aesthetic procedures, thread lifts have become quite popular among clients as they give instant and very pronounced results like surgery but they are not as invassive as surgery. While there are general guidelines to such procedures and some known facts. However, other details can greatly vary from case to case.
The need for the procedure, the methodology, and even results may vary from individual to individual depending upon age, skin type, and skin condition. No one answer fits all individuals. This is why it is important to consult a specialist who has a vast experience in such procedures.

1. Do you need a thread lift?
It is best to ask your doctor if thread lifts are suitable for you or if you will benefit from any other procedure. If you didn’t need a facelift in the first place, or you needed a more intense procedure, opting for thread lifts just because someone told you about it, can yield not-so-aesthetic results. Fortunately, thread lifts are low-risk procedures as they are only mildly invasive and thread is biodegradable. So even if you are not happy with the results, they can fade away over the months if you just leave them alone.
Can you reverse the thread lifts? Yes, you can also have the threads removed, but it is not recommended. There are other less invasive or more intense options available in the market for skin tightening and facelifts. Depending upon your age, skin elasticity, and degree of sagging your doctor will be better able to guide you on which procedure will be better suited for you.
2. What type of thread will be best suited for you?
There is a variety of thread lifts now available in the market. Different Types of thread lifts available are Silhouette Soft Thread lift, contour thread lift, and Korean Thread lift. This is used both for lift and volumizing. The Korean thread lift uses barbed Mono PDO threads, that give minimal lift but are recommended for volumizing effect.
3. How many threads you will need?
This depends upon the nature and seriousness of the problem you want to address. How many, where, and in what direction the threads will be placed is something your doctor will brief you on right before performing the quick procedure. Usually, 2 to 4 threads are used on each area depending upon the current condition and the required results.
4. How long will the procedure last?
Again depending upon the number of threads and areas you are targeting, the exact time the procedure will take may vary, however it usually takes between 15 to 40 minutes. While it is true that you can get the procedure done during your office during lunch break, however, aftercare is required and you may want to take the rest of the day off. You will also be advised to avoid wearing makeup, doing vigorous facial movements or massages, and strenuous physical activity for more than a week.
5. When you would need to redo the procedure?
Your thread lift results can last from a few months to 2 to three years. This depends upon how thick or thin your skin is, what is your age, lifestyle, and your skin condition, along with the type and number of threads used. So after assessing these factors your doctor will be able to give you a better estimate. You can make your results last longer by choosing combination treatment options and taking good care of your skin.
